Major research areas:
1. Study on the re-programming mechanism in somatic cell nuclear transfer
2. Study on pre-implantation embryonic development
3. Basic research and clinic application of stem cells
4. Study on genital cell development and the fecundation mechanism Main research achievements:
Members of the center have presided over key programs of National Natural Science Fund, Fujian Province Outstanding Youth Science Fund, Fujian Province Natural Science Fund, and Department of Education of Fujian Province. They have won the third prize of Fujian Province Science & Technology Award, the third prize of Fujian Medical Science & Technology Award, second prizes in Excellent Articles of the Natural Science in the 7th and 8th Sessions of Fujian Province. In these 5 years, they have published more than 10 SCI articles in international medical journals. The main accomplishments are as follows:
1. first presenting and discussing the technology of consubstantial somatic cell nuclear transfer and its mechanism worldwide;
2. systematic study on the influences of sub-species hybrid F1 generation oocyte as receptor cytoplasm on the efficiency of somatic cell nuclear transfer;
3. systematic research proving that oocyte cytoplasm from different individual animals may lead to individually different re-programming of donor nucleuses; that the initial merogenesis time of reconstructed embryo indicates its development capacity in vivo and in vitro; and that the inhibitor of epigenetic modification has influence over the expression of imprinted genes in nuclear donor cells;
4. revealing the expression and localization of Peroxiredoxin II in mouse oocyte and pre-implantation embryo , and doing preliminary study on its role in the development of the pre-implantation embryo;
5. finding that 2-cell block of mouse embryo cultured in vitro is related to mitochondrial activity of 2 - cell embryos;
6. finding that maternal genetic differences in mice of different species have influences over the potential of In vitro development of pre-implantation embryo;
7. exploring the role of icarrin in hypothalamus-pituitary-testis axis of rat with cyclophosphamide-induced dyszoospermia,with preliminary study on its role in reproductive immunity;
8. first presenting the molecular mechanism of glucocorticoid hormone inducing the death of Leydig cells.
