The institute focuses currently on basic and clinical research on autoimmune diseases and kidney diseases. The main directions of studies in recent years are focused on the control of systemic lupus erythematosus in gene level, the molecular mechanism of the morbidity of rheumatoid arthritis and the medication mechanism of kidney diseases.
Main scientific achievements:
In recent years, the institute has assumed different projects supported by the Natural Science Foundation of Fujian Province, science research projects supported by Department of Science & Technology of Fujian Province, Medical Innovation Foundation of Fujian Province and Scientific Research Foundation of Education Bureau of Fujian Province. Success has been achieved in a series of studies in the expression of relevant molecules in controlling the systemic lupus erythematosus with antisense RNA and RNA interference, the abnormality of the molecular expression and the construction of RA (rheumatoid arthritis) animal model, the function of mesenchymal stem cell in RA (rheumatoid arthritis) morbidity, and the cloning, expression and function of CD80 fusion protein. The members of the institute have published more than 10 articles in domestic core periodicals and their research achievements have been awarded the second prize of Medical Science & Technology Progress Award of Fujian Province.
Main equipments and devices:
The institute has advanced equipments including refrigerated centrifuge, PCR amplification apparatus, enzyme coelosphere reader, incubators for cells and bacteria, nitrogen canister, inverted phase contrast microscope, electrophresis apparatus, ultraviolet projection and reflection tester, anaphylactogen detector, super clean bench and electronic balance. These equipments are available for relevant studies on cytobiology and molecular biology and provide a good experiment platform for postgraduate cultivation.
