Fujian Research Institute of Ultrasonic Medicine

Established in the year of 2000, Fujian Institute of Ultrasonic Medicine has developed rapidly with supportive leadership. Today, the Institute boasts a wellorganized team of research experts. Among its faculty members, there are one honored as  a statelevel expert, one granted with Government's Special Allowance, as well as six awarded with senior professional titles and eight with a doctor's degree or master's degree. To date 203 papers from the Institute's staff have been published in state-level journals, some of which are indexed by SCI and Medline. Among the eight books on ultrasonic medicine edited by certain  members here, two have been adopted in the textbook project of higher education in China. The Institute has won 12 prizes  of Science and Technology Progress Award at provincial and ministerial level ( one first prize and one second prize), and possessed ultrasonic devices and experimental equipments with a total value of more than 10 million RMB yuan.

Major Research Areas:

1. Diagnosis and treatment with interventional ultrasound, specifically on: 1) treatment of liver cancer with quantified interventional  ultrasound; 2) treatment of portal vein tumor thrombosis with double ultrasonic interventional therapy; 3) treatment of liver  cancer with ultrasound-guided percutaneous injection of  "compound traditional Chinese medicine" and "docetaxel release microspheres";

2. Superficial organ-targeted ultrasonic basis and diagnosis, specifically on: 1) ultrasonic diagnosis of intra-scrotal diseases (researches on ultrasonic basis and diagnosis of testicular torsion and infertility); 2) ultrasonic diagnosis of thyroid and breast diseases; 3) basic researches on ultrasonic medicine;

3. Ultrasonic diagnosis and treatment of cholangiocarcinoma, specifically on: 1) ultrasonic diagnosis and differential diagnosis of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma;  2) ultrasonographic pattern-based diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma; 3) the value of ultrasound-guided cholangiography and T-tube drainage in the diagnosis and treatment of cholangiocarcinoma;                                                                                  

4. Clinical researches on color Doppler ultrasound (transvaginal or transrectal), specifically on: 1) diagnosis of ovarian corpus luteum hematoma with transvaginal color Doppler ultrasound; 2)  early differential diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy by detecting blood flow waveforms in trophoblast with color Doppler ultrasound; 3) clinical application of end-fire transrectal ultrasound probe and its effect in the typing of rectal cancer.
